Chickpeas have been cultivated for around 8,000 years, and we have been profiting from their excellent combination of nutrients since then [1 and 2].

Our Austrian Kabuli chickpeas are one of the normal chickpea varieties, with a normal or large size. Kabuli chickpeas are pale to beige in colour, have the typical chickpea shape and a characteristically strong chickpea taste that is very pleasant. After cooking they have a nice soft consistency.

We have very strong ties to our partners enabling us to start growing chickpeas in Austria. Very close cooperation and fair dealings with local farmers are key to production, as well as fair prices and guaranteed purchases.
The organic chickpeas are cultivated and harvested with the greatest care, in compliance with criteria on organic agriculture. It’s easy to see why Austrian chickpeas have so much to offer you! Short transport routes reducing C02 emissions, zero genetic modification, promotion and appreciation of domestic and regional products, support for Austrian farms and their work, as well as helping to sustain natural diversity.

After harvesting, our organic Kabuli chickpeas are cleaned several times, ensuring high purity. The chickpeas are given our standard pressure treatment and they are laser cleaned. During the pressure process, the combination of pressure and time ensures that the product is completely free of pests. When undergoing several rounds of cleansing in the laser cleaning facility afterwards, the organic chickpeas are checked individually.
