Nashi is a combination of apple and pear, more closely related to pear varieties, as evidenced by its Japanese name „Nashi“, meaning pear.
The organic Nashi pear has an intensive, aromatic pear flavour. Its fruit flesh is juicier than that of normal pears and in shape it resembles an apple.
Our organic Nashi pears are whole slices, containing no fruit or pip bits, but with the skin. They have an intensive pear taste, and are very fruity, slightly strong and sweet. The colours vary in the skin and fruit flesh. The inside of the Nashi pear is yellow to beige, and they are orange to dark red on the outside. Their consistency is soft, the skin being somewhat firmer.
Dried Nashi pear contains the same nutrients as fresh Nashi pears, in a concentrated form. That’s why dried fruits are indispensable for a balanced diet.
Origin and Production:
We source our organic Nashi pears exclusively from Uzbekistan / Samarkand. Large parts of the region are certified for organic farming and are worked by the local organic farmers at harvesting time only. The farmers in this area have complied with organic cultivation criteria for many years and are proud of their contribution towards sustaining the natural balance.
After harvesting, the Nashi pears are washed, pitted and cut uniformly into slices and then gently dried using solar energy. The drying process is very eco-friendly, using a solar drying method that has a minimal impact on the product.
The Nashi pears are pressure treated in Austria. During the pressure process, the combination of pressure and time ensures that the product is completely free of pests.
