The root of the yacon plant contains high amounts of fructose or oligofructose. Oligofructose is a polysaccharide and a type of fibre, since it cannot be absorbed by the human body. Oligofructose is however a nutrient for useful intestinal bacteria, fortifying and mobilising the intestinal flora.
Yacon roots are eaten to combat intestinal complaints in the countries they are grown in. The root also contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamins B1, B2 and C .
Our sweet organic yacon chips are carefully made from thoroughly cleaned yacon roots. The chips are 100% natural and pure, having a pleasantly sweet taste. Our yacon chips are very crunchy and ideal as a healthy snack.
Origin and Production:
We source our organic Yacon chips from Peru. After harvesting, the roots are removed from the fruits by hand, carefully dried and hand sorted. The roots are cut into chips after undergoing further controls.
These Yacon are cultivated in regions certified for organic farming. The organic farmers living here work the surrounding area, improving our lives and their own by implementing traditional methods in harmony with nature.
The Yacon chips are pressure treated and controlled in Austria. During the pressure process, the combination of pressure and time ensures that the product is completely free of pests.
